i’ve never really written much before and it wasn’t until i read some content that actually resonated with me did i start to feel motivated to:
write more
one barrier to reading was content, or delivery, or both? this recent content that i had stumbled upon not only had material that was presented in a way that made sense to me, but also had actual explicit advice for writing (!!)
cool stuff, i’m working my way through it but before i dive too deep i want to create a comfortable environment for me (not you) to write because so much of what stops me from writing is worrying about you. so fuck you (for now) and here are things i’m going to do to make me comfortable:
will likely not capitalize things
will likely misspell things, bad grammar, etc
streams of consciousness (aka run on sentences?)
lack of structure
keep things mostly anonymous (not write for anyone, to anyone)
well timed profanity
things i will try to commit to:
try to write things in lists (h/t dynomite)
stick with substack (and not get lost in finding the perfect set of features in a blogging platform)
write more often
this isn’t the end state of where i want to be. i understand that all communication is a compromise and we need to converge and adhere to some standards so we can understand each other but i just need some practice getting these ideas out. i hope somewhere along this journey some of this shit makes sense to you too.
